Daniel Edward McIntyre, 86, Osawatomie Kansas, died September 29th, 2010, at Olathe
  
  Medical Center.
  
  He was born September 24, 1924, in Osawatomie to Emma Ruth (Harer) and Daniel
  
  McIntyre.
  
  Dan graduated from Osawatomie High school in 1942 and proudly served his country as
  
  a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps. Dan was a demolition specialist surviving tours in
  
  Noumea, New Caledonia, Guadalcanal, Guam, Iwo Jima and Bougainville from 1943 to
  
  1952. After returning home he worked as a machinist for the Missouri Pacific Railroad
  
  and then Delco Battery in Olathe.
  
  He married Mary Ellen Collins in 1951 and they became parents of four sons. They
  
  divorced in 1982.
  
  Throughout his life, Dan enjoyed flying airplanes, attending local sporting events,
  
  amateur radio operation and dancing. Dan also enjoyed his daily walk around
  
  Osawatomie. Dan was a life member of Osawatomie VFW, Hanlin-Kelley Post #2258
  
  and St Philip Neri Catholic Church in Osawatomie. He was also a 4th degree Knight in
  
  the Knights of Columbus.
  
  Dan is survived by his for sons Daniel Joseph, his wife Yumiko, and their 2 children
  
  Daniel and Grace of Tokyo, Japan; Michael Edward of Dallas, Texas; Richard James, his
  
  wife Heidi, and their 2 children Katie and Matthew of Louisburg; and John Kevin of
  
  California.
  
  Rosary and visitation will be at Eddy-Birchard Funeral home 6:30-8:00 Wednesday
  
  October 6th. Funeral will be at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church 10:00 Thursday October
  
  7th followed by burial in the Osawatomie Cemetery.
  
  The family suggests memorial contributions to the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic
  
  School.
  
  Dan’s family would like to express their gratitude to the Osawatomie community for
  
  showing such care to Dan over the last several years, often stopping to offer him a ride
