Gerald Otis "Boze" Chase, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully from old age on April 27, 2026, in Greeley, Colorado. Born on September 3, 1936, in Freedom, Oklahoma, Boze lived a full and vibrant life, reaching the age of 89.

The Chase family relocated to Greeley, Kansas when Boze was just two years old. It was there that he cultivated a strong work ethic and a love for farming, working alongside his brothers Buck and Kermit. As a young boy, Gerald and his brothers worked the land with a teams of horses. His team was Tom and Dick, a memory he cherished and shared with his great-grandsons.

Gerald began his career in the maintenance department at Taylor Forge, showcasing a dedication and skill that saw him rise through the ranks to work in the hot roll section. In 1966, he joined the Local 533 as a pipefitter, where he found his true calling. His commitment to his craft and his union was unwavering, and he remained an active member of the Pipefitters Local 533 for 60 years. He retired in 1999, while continuing to raise cattle.

Beyond his professional life, Boze had a passion for cattle and livestock, reflecting his rural roots and love for the land. He also enjoyed playing cards, a pastime he often shared with friends and family, creating cherished memories over countless games.

Gerald was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Robert and Eleanor Chase; his siblings, Buck, Kermit, Lonnie, and Bonnie; his loving wife, Peggy (Padgett) Chase; and his children, Ronda Chase, Gary Chase, and Chad Chase.

A service to honor Gerald's life will be held at Eddy-Birchard in Osawatomie, Kansas, on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM. He will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty to his family, his dedication to his work, and the warmth he shared with all who knew him. Gerald Otis "Boze" Chase leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and cherished memories that will be treasured by those whose lives he touched.
