James Dale Cortner

James Dale Cortner, lovingly known as "Jim", passed away on March 20, 2026, in Olathe, Kansas, at the age of 81. Jim was born in Seattle, Washington on May 11, 1945.Jim had a deep love for life and all it had to offer, especially the joy of traveling and embracing new experiences. Among his favorite traditions was his annual trip to Las Vegas during March Madness. He loved the gambling and games but it was the special memories made with close friends and family that he really cherished. He and his son, Mike, enjoyed their 29th trip together this past year. Las Vegas is also where Jim married the love of his life 10 years ago.In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated and his ashes will be spread throughout that place so very dear to his heart, Las Vegas. He did not wish to have a funeral service, preferring instead to be remembered in the moments shared, the stories told, and the memories that will live on with those who knew and loved him.”He is survived by his wife, Kyong Suk Cortner and his two children, Michael Cortner and Kimberly Potter, as well as four cherished grandchildren. James was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Lela Cortner.James will be remembered fondly by those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
