Jeanna Kaylynn Mullins-Poage

Jeanna Kaylynn Mullins Poage age 55 of Paola , Kansas died Saturday September 5, 2026 at her home.

Jeanna was born August 3, 1970 along with her twin brother, Johnny in Texas City. Texas. She and Johnny were products of a his, hers and ours family but the only two children born to John R Mullins and Marilyn (Boyd) Mullins, although Jeanna liked to boast that she won the race by three minutes. They had their differences but they loved each other very much. They spent the first three years of their lives in LaPorte, Texas where her parents were employed at NASA.

In 1973 her parents retired from NASA and the family moved to Osawatomie, Kansas where her father was born and raised.

Jeanna graduated with the Osawatomie High School Class of 1989. Despite having medical issues she enjoyed participating in choir, musicals and cheerleading. She was an honors student and received a full scholarship to the KU School of Nursing where she pursued her lifelong dream of becoming an RN. She graduated from KU with a BSN where she was awarded Sigma Theta Tau National Nursing Honor Society.

Jeanna started her nursing career working with pediatric and neonatal ICU patients. She eventually went on to practice in other areas, and by the end of her career had practiced for 25 years. It was the joy of her life to take care of others.

In 1995 Jeanna was united in marriage with Steve Maddex. They bore two children, Gabe and Maribeth and they were the loves of her life. She got to see who they became as adults and was very proud of them. They are both kind and humble individuals who will undoubtedly make their mark on society and the people they love. Unfortunately the marriage between Jeanna and Steve dissolved. Despite Jeanna’s struggles in life

family was very important to her. She got to see the adults her children became, and they are kind, humble human beings.

Jeanna’s biggest hobby was singing. Because of this, she wanted her memorial to be surrounded by music instead of tears.

Jeanna was preceded in death by her parents, her four brothers Colin E Kennedy, Jr, Curtis L Kennedy, Bobby Mullins, Dick Mullins and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jeanna is survived by her son Gabe Maddex, of Chicago, her daughter Maribeth Maddex, of Kansas City, Mo, her twin brother, Johnny Mullins of Gardner, Ks, sister Marcia Sloan of Texas, her cousin Mary Orahood of Florida, her cousin Shawn Mullins of Colorado, her ex-husband, Steve of Liberty, Gabe and Maribeth’s Stepmother, Robin Bock and many other family and friends. Jeanna’s Hope is that her children can one day forgive her for her misgivings.

To Gabe and Maribeth, I: promised I would never leave you and you should always know, wherever you are, I will never be far away.

Someday we'll all be gone, but lullabies go on and on. They never die, that's how we will always be.
