Osawatomie, Kansas

Johnny Edward Holloman, age 85, of Osawatomie, KS, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2025, at his home.

John was born May 16, 1940, in Osawatomie, KS. He was one of six children born to Virgil and Sadie (Burgoon) Holloman.

After high school, John entered the workforce. He began his career as a diesel mechanic for the City of Osawatomie at the power plant. In 1978, he went to work for St. Mary’s Power Plant as a boilermaker, then in 1980 joined the LaCygne Power Plant. Later in life, he worked at the power plant at the Osawatomie State Hospital.

John also contributed to the family business, Holloman & Associates, working as a pipefitter and millwright in Cape Girardeau, MO, and Cincinnati, OH. His work even took him abroad to Turkey and Egypt for several years. Back home in Osawatomie, John helped his brothers with their laundromat business and co-owned the El Ray and Palomino Club with them.

A true jack of all trades, John especially excelled in mechanics. At the age of nine, he overhauled his first lawn mower, sparking a lifelong passion. Over the years, he became a skilled shade tree mechanic, building hot rods and cars for his children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Charles Holloman, Don Holloman, Clifford Holloman, and Dorothy Holloman; and great-grandson, Hudson Dunn.

John is survived by his wife, Sharon, of the home; children, Mark (Letty) Holloman, David Holloman, Chris Holloman, Becky (Rick) Adams, Jody Holloman, and Katy Rushing; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Virgil Holloman, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

John will be remembered for his strong work ethic, resourcefulness, and devotion to his family.

A memorial will be held at Memorial Hall in Osawatomie at a future date.
