Michael Sean Kane

Michael Sean Kane, age 62, of Belton, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home.

Mike was born as Morris Samuel Kane Jr., he was affectionately known as JR or Junior. Born on July 28, 1964, in Paola, Kansas to Morris Samuel and Erma June (Lease) Kane. He grew up as the sixth of seven children and attended Osawatomie schools, graduating with the Class of 1982. Following high school, Mike enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country. He was honorably discharged.

Mike went to work for the Marine Reserves as a civilian employee he was a military housing manager for the KC area.

Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cheering on his favorite sports teams, including the KU Jayhawks, Kansas City Royals, and Kansas City Chiefs. He was known for his kind and giving nature, sweet personality, and one-of-a-kind sense of humor. Mike had an artistic side and enjoyed creating things, even making his own Christmas cards to share with family and friends.

Above all, Mike cherished his family. He was adored by his family and was a wonderful uncle who brought laughter, kindness, and special memories to those around him. His generous heart, unique humor, and creative spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Morris S. Kane; his brother, Gary Carter; and his brother-in-law, Joe Bennett.

Survivors include his mother, Erma Kane, of Burlington, Kansas; his siblings, Kay (Don) Vanderpool of Petit Jean, Arkansas, Kathie Bennett of Seneca, Missouri, Donna (Glen) Krause of Emporia, Kansas, Erma (Don) Banta of Springdale, Arkansas, and Cliff Kane of Berryton, Kansas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Mike will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him. His kindness, creativity, and one-of-a-kind humor will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Visitation 9-10am Sunday October 4, 2026 followed by service at 10 am all at the Eddy Birchard Funeral Home.
