Nina Marie Tush

August 18, 1945 — June 30, 2026

Topeka, Kansas

Nina Marie Tush, age 80, of Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Osawatomie and Greeley, Kansas, died Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Willow Tree Post Acute Nursing Home in Topeka.

Nina was born August 18, 1945, in Wellington, Kansas. She was the eldest child born to Robert Adell and June Maxine (Force) Busch. She grew up in Conway Springs, Kansas, where she attended school and graduated from high school. Following graduation, Nina attended nursing school in Winfield, Kansas, beginning a career that would span more than four decades and positively impact countless lives.

On October 15, 1967, Nina was united in marriage to Glen Edward "Tuba" Tush. The couple made their home in Kansas City, Missouri, for a year before settling in Tuba's hometown of Osawatomie, Kansas. Together they welcomed two daughters and built a loving family. In 1985, they moved to Greeley, Kansas.

Nina devoted her life to caring for others through her nursing career. She served as the Director of Nursing at Holiday Manor in Osawatomie for 15 years before beginning work at Osawatomie State Hospital. There, she worked as a Charge Nurse for 25 years until her retirement. Even after retiring, Nina's passion for nursing never faded. She volunteered as the nurse at her grandson's Boy Scout camp, continuing to care for those around her whenever she could.

Outside of work, Nina enjoyed shopping on QVC, cheering on the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs, making ceramics, quilting, bird watching—especially spotting cardinals—and listening to music. She was an avid fan of Kenny Rogers and could share a wealth of knowledge about his music and career. She also had a special fondness for The Grinch. In her younger years, she loved riding horses. Above all else, Nina treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren and was an active, loving presence throughout their lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Edward "Tuba" Tush; her grandson, Ian Edward Colburn; her parents, Robert and June Busch; and her sister, Gaila Roberts.

Nina is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Colburn and Johnna (John) Schmidt; her brother, Roy (Jenice) Busch; her sister, Roberta Busch; her grandchildren, Shawn Tush, Alyssa (Brandon) Miller, Samantha Massek, Brandy Pressler, and Matthew Massek; and her three great-grandchildren, Katrina Stewart, Layla Stewart, and Eva Stewart. She is also survived by many other extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
